OWN Token: A Progress Report of Our OWN Community (October 2020)
What is the OWN Token?
OWN is a cryptocurrency token on the Ethereum blockchain (ERC-20) that aims to decentralize and revolutionize philanthropy, education, startup funding, scientific research and disaster management. It is a utility token aimed not at making the rich richer, but at redistributing wealth more equitably, particularly among vulnerable sections of society, and at making the world in general a better place.
A Message For Our Community
OWN Token is nothing without our huge community of OWNians. You have been with us every step of the way, from our early airdrop days and listing on the Saturn Network, to our beef with Flame Exchange, to our upcoming public sale on VinDAX, and hopefully into a new future where together, we can make this world a better place for everyone. We thank each and every one of you for your support, and ask that you continue to support us in any way you can, for as long as possible.
How far have we come?
A journey of a million miles starts with a single step. And so far, together our steps have reached out far and wide. Our main Telegram group has approximately 50,000 members, with several thousand being a part of our regional groups, such as OWN Token Bangladesh and OWN Token Indonesia. Our Telegram channel has more than 8000 subscribers. Our Instagram page has more than 2000 followers, several of whom are blockchain advocates and cryptocurrency connoisseurs such as yourself. Our Twitter follower count is no less impressive, and so are all of you wonderful people who follow us on social media! Our official Twitter handle has more than 4000 followers. Arguably, on the créme de la créme of social media, Facebook, we have fallen a bit short, but the 300+ people who have liked our page are all kind and amazing people such as yourself. We have a LinkedIn page as well, and our current core team stands at 21 members. Recently, we have also made our foray onto Reddit and Discord. Both our Discord server and subreddit have 66 members as of the time of writing this article.
It is the power of our community, that forced a scam account that was impersonating our Twitter handle to cease its impersonation of us, it is the power of our community that calls a spade a spade, and protects the interests of everyone involved or invested in the project, through sheer goodwill, and it is the power of our community that will eventually make this world a better and more beautiful place, through acts of philanthropy. We are thankful for each and every one of you.
What’s next in store for us?
Our first public sale is on VinDAX Exchange, November 1st, 2020, 9:00 AM UTC, till November 2nd. Following this, we will be launching our o-ABC (Online Academy of Blockchain and Cryptocurrency), and subsequently our DonCha (Donation Challenge) app. We hope to make a tangible and extremely positive contribution to the world.
